Before
joining the Perth Bushwalkers Club Inc it is necessary to complete an introductory
walk.
The leader of each introductory walk does
his or her best to ensure that the walk is as close as possible to a typical
club event. Participants have a pleasant walk through the bush, which those
who are not regular bushwalkers might find quite strenuous, and there will
be talk about specific aspects of bushwalking in Western Australia with
the Perth Bushwalkers Club Inc. The discussions will cover the risks inherent
in walking in the bush in Western Australia and how these risks can be safely
managed
Introductory walks ensure that all members
have a known minimum standard of fitness and bushwalking competence. They
are an important part of the Club's risk management strategy and play a
major role in assisting new members to become full and active participants
in the Club's activities.
The detailed programme for an introductory
walk changes from time to time.
