Perth Bushwalkers Club recognises the
need for a formalised and documented safety and training
programme.
Potential members are encouraged to
acquaint themselves with information from this and other
similar websites, and must complete an introductory
walk which we consider the first step in member training
in the Club.
The management
committee includes a position for a Safety and Training
Officer who oversees the safety and training programme.
The Club supports an
active Risk Management programme,
and activity leaders are encouraged to undertake a written
risk assessment for each of their activities.
Current Club leaders mentor and assist
developing leaders as a means of passing on skills and
knowledge.
Club members are encouraged to expand
their knowledge and skills with regard to awareness and
management of risks they may encounter, such as bushfire,
dehydration, and injury.
Members are supported in maintaining first
aid qualifications with subsidy available from the
Club.
